Watch ICC Awards 2009 Winners Results

The ICC Awards 2009 celebrated their 6th year and was held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg in South Africa courtesy of sponsor LG.
The inaugural ICC Awards took place before the focus turns to the four semi final teams which start on Friday. It is an occasion that can be enjoyed by all past and present players and celebrate a wonderful year of cricket with players being rewarded for there hard work and success and enjoy the up coming season with more interesting battles taking place.

The ICC World Player of the Year was given to Mitchell Johnson who deserved the award after his sublime performances against South Africa home and away with bat and ball made him the best contender to win the award. His nearest rivals were from India Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir who have had a quite magnificent year as individuals and the success India have had which would have been deserving to be given the award. But with not winning the biggest award both Indians won the next two awards for Dhoni winning the best one day player and Gambhir winning the best player award so there achievements were recognised at the highest stage. Also there was more success for India and Dhoni who was also nominate captain for the one day and test teams of the year which shows his credentials as one of the best captains around.
