‘Runway’ veteran Daniel Vosovic takes all-star prize .The Project RunwaySeason 2 runner-up took the top prize on Project Runway All-Star Challenge Thursday night.
In the two-hour special which aired before the Lifetime season premiere of Runway, Vosovic, 28, beat out seven other former contestants —Uli Herzner, Mychael Knight, Chris March, Korto Momolu, Sweet P, Santino Rice and Jeffrey Sebelia— for the $100,000 prize.
More importantly, he says, he was able to showcase his growth over the last four years. “I feel so much more confident. I know the woman that I’m dressing and my point of view is much more clear this time around,” he says from his home in New York. Vosovic says it took a minute for him to realize that he actually was named the winner. “To hear the words was obviously phenomenal, but the dialogue that happened after that — when it was just myself on the runway — that’s really when it started to sink in. I don’t tear up ever and I don’t cry — not even at a sad movie — but it got me choked up,” he admitted. “Hearing people who have been in this industry for a collective amount of 50, 60 years — this is some experience that we’re taking about. To have these industry people say, ‘Daniel, we’re proud of what you created and we want to see more of you,’ that hit it home for me.”
Not to mention that the money comes at a good time. “I’ve been working for four years to get my own money and stand on my own two feet,” Vosovic says. “Project Runway certainly puts people out there, but like any singular experience, … it’s what you do afterward that proves who’s going to last and who’s going to be here 10 years from now. I’m excited to be showing my first non-Project Runway fashion show on my own.”
